What do product leads own at Clara?
A Product Lead owns the product direction for a small, autonomous squad. Our Product Lead, LATAM postings spell it out: you decide what to build, why it matters and whether it worked, and you're accountable for business outcomes, not just features shipped.
Our current Product Lead postings cover these areas. Several also list the metrics their squad tracks, such as approval and fraud loss rates for Risk, or payment success rate and settlement time for Bill Pay Mexico.
- Bill Pay Mexico (SPEI): payments on Mexico's primary interbank rail, including domestic and cross-border transfers, reconciliation, bank partner integrations and the compliance layer.
- Risk: credit lines, identity verification and fraud signals, as the lead of a new Risk Builder squad across acquisition and portfolio management.
- Collections: a squad at the intersection of credit risk, finance operations and customer experience, across Mexico, Colombia and Brazil.
- Card benefits: the global strategy and P&L for our premium corporate card portfolio, starting with the Black Card.
- Core cards and stablecoins: card issuing, clearing and settlement on our Core Cards Processing team, plus stablecoin-powered payment flows integrated into our corporate card infrastructure.
- Product Lead, LATAM: posted in Bogotá, Mexico City and São Paulo; this posting describes the role itself rather than a single product area.
How do product squads work?
They are small, autonomous and biased toward action. Our Product Lead, LATAM postings put it this way: “We build in small, autonomous squads. We default to action over process. We treat AI as core workflow, not a novelty.” Product leads work directly with engineers as peers, and the postings ask for someone who can write a one-pager that drives alignment without a meeting.
One public example is Clara Global. Our newsroom describes a three-person team, known internally as the Lighthouse Squad, that built and shipped it in weeks while documenting ways of working meant to be replicated across Clara. It shows how a small squad can work; it is not a promise that every project runs on the same schedule.
Do product leads write code?
Yes, for straightforward changes. Our Product Lead, LATAM postings say you prototype ideas with AI tools before committing engineering time and contribute code for copy, config, feature flags and simple UI updates; the Bill Pay Mexico posting adds that these changes go through engineer-reviewed pull requests. You work in Git daily, read PRs and understand what shipped without a status meeting.
Most of our Product Lead postings name Cursor and Claude Code, and the Risk and Bill Pay Mexico postings also name v0. The LATAM postings set the limits clearly: “This isn't a PM who codes full-time.” The core job is still product judgment, discovery and stakeholder alignment.
How do designers work at Clara?
Our current design postings ask for designers who build with AI and ship what they make. Where a posting names specific tools, we list them below.
The common thread is judgment. The Product Designer Associate posting asks you to decide how to apply AI, when to go deep and when to move fast and ship; the Design Engineer posting asks you to know when to take over and finish by hand.
- Product Designer Associate: go from idea to a functional, testable prototype in days, not weeks, help grow our agentic design system and own the UX performance of what you design. Tools named: Claude, Figma AI and v0.
- Head of Brand: a build role, not brand governance. It sets Clara's visual identity and voice, builds AI-powered brand production tooling and reports to the Head of Design.
- Growth Designer: create ad creatives, landing pages and conversion flows for Mexico, Brazil and Colombia, using AI tools such as Midjourney, Ideogram, Runway and Figma AI every day.
- Design Engineer, Web (AI-Native): design and build our website, with agentic workflows that use specialized AI agents for implementation, QA, accessibility, performance, localization and more. Tools named: Claude, Cursor, v0, Lovable and Figma AI.
What should I show when I apply?
Show work you shipped and what it changed. Our Product Lead, LATAM postings say: “We care more about what you've shipped than where you studied.” Most of our Product Lead postings ask for a track record of shipping products that moved business metrics, and the LATAM postings also ask for something you built in production yourself.
For design roles, bring a portfolio. The Design Engineer, Web and Growth Designer postings state that applications without a portfolio will not be considered, and the other design postings also ask for one.
- Product Lead: products you shipped, the business metrics they moved and a concept you prototyped with AI coding tools.
- Design Engineer, Web: live sites or pages with conversion results.
- Growth Designer: ad creatives, landing pages or other conversion-focused work.
- Product Designer Associate: design work you owned from discovery to shipped product, and be ready to present and defend your decisions.
- Head of Brand: brand work you led end to end, such as identity systems, rebrands or campaigns.
Where are product and design roles based?
Current product and design postings are in Bogotá, Mexico City and São Paulo, and the Design Engineer, Web posting also lists Buenos Aires. Several roles are posted in more than one of these cities.
Work arrangement is set per posting. Most current product and design postings are hybrid, splitting time between the office, customers and home, and a few are remote-first. One role is firm on location: the Bill Pay Mexico posting requires physical presence in Mexico City, because the team is in active conversations with banking partners and regulators.
English is our working language, with Spanish and Portuguese every day. Some roles add a firm language requirement: the Bill Pay Mexico posting, for example, requires native or near-native Spanish.
What comes with every role?
Every Clara posting describes the same team and the same basics. Other benefits vary by country, so confirm them with the recruiting team.
- A high talent-density team driven to make an impact in Latin America — low ego, high ownership.
- Competitive salary and stock options (ESOP) from day one.
- An annual learning budget and accelerated development paths.
